STS-101 Shuttle Mission Imagery

via NASA click the image.
"JSC2000-E-10522 (March 2000) --- Eleven new full-color, flat-panel display screens in the Shuttle cockpit replace 32 gauges and electromechanical displays and four cathode-ray tube displays. The new "glass cockpit" is 75 pounds lighter and uses less power than before, and its color displays provide easier pilot recognition of key functions. The new cockpit is expected to be installed on all shuttles in the NASA fleet by 2002, and it sets the stage for the next cockpit improvement planned to fly by 2005: a "smart cockpit" that reduces the pilot's workload during critical periods. During STS-101 Atlantis will fly as the most updated shuttle ever, with more than 100 new modifications incorporated during a ten-month period in 1998 at Boeing's Palmdale, Ca., Shuttle factory."

Cockatoo Island

Cockatoo Island Project
"Cockatoo Island is like Peter Pan’s Never Never Land for a photographer who likes industrial and historical decay. It’s a wonderland of rusted colour. Machines smeared with grease from a thousand men’s hands. Sandstone hewned by convicts. An apocalyptic museum of towering H.G. Wells tripods and cranes. I was entranced the minute I stepped off the ferry." via Boing Boing

SparkleKiller: Microsoft Layoffs Flight Simulator Dev Team

via Gizmodo:

"The first blow to us from the layoffs Microsoft announced yesterday cuts deep into our childhood memories: Flight Simulator is permanently grounded. The entire development team is gone.

Flight Simulator debuted in 1982, making it one of the longest-running continuous franchises in the gaming industry. Both barely a game and so much more, Flight Simulator was an experience, and one of the first things on a computer that truly astonished me. I was flying (and crashing!) a real plane, really (virtually)! And all on my piece-of-crap Packard Bell that made me jealous of my friends' Gateways, which ran way better than my computer for reasons I didn't understand at the time."

Barack's Watch - JORG GRAY 6500 SERIES CHRONOGRAPH

"The Story
Since August 2007, President Barack Obama has worn a Jorg Gray 6500 Chronograph, which is the same make and model watch offered here by Presidential Watches.

Jorg Gray 6500 Chronograph worn by President Obama was given to him as a 46th birthday present by the members of his Secret Service detail. President Obama was the earliest Presidential candidate to be assigned a full Secret Service detail (in May 2007) and his relationship with the members of his security team has been reported to be very close.

President Obama has since been photographed wearing his Jorg Gray 6500 Chronograph in multiple television interviews, magazine photographs and media appearances. Historic occasions that President Obama has worn his Jorg Gray 6500 Chronograph include:
# Berlin Campaign Speech (July 2008)
# Democratic Nomination Speech (August 2008)
# Presidential Debates (September and October 2008)
# Presidential Election Victory Speech (November 2008)
# Multiple Appearances with New Cabinet Appointees (January 2009)

The Jorg Gray 6500 Chronograph offered exclusively here by Presidential Watches is a Limited Edition version of the same make and model watch worn by President Barack Obama that features a subtle Presidential Star dial. On the case back, the inscription Time for Change and the date 1.20.09 has been engraved to commemorate the historic occasion of the inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th President of the United States."

Note the images on the left and bottom are from onthedash.com and are most likely images of the actual design. If you look at http://www.barackswatch.com/ you will see the star on top is different and the Jorg Gray between 7 and 8 is missing. It looks to be a modified version of the public JGC6500 Chronograph Style watch [on Logomark.com].

Update via the comments: "The watches sold at www.barackswatch.com are the same make and model as President Obama's watch, the Jorg Gray 6500 Series Black Chronograph with a black Buffalo Leather strap and white contrast stitching. The only difference between the publicly available watch and Barack's is that his features a Secret Service logo (and they do not license consumer goods), whereas the www.barackwatch.com model features a stylized Presidential Star and the inscription "Time for a Change" and "1.20.09" on the case back. We have attempted to be as straightford [sic] as possible about these differences, and believe that we are the only public source for the Jorg Gray 6500 Series. Please contact us with any questions at information@barackswatch.com. Sincerely, the Presidential Watches Team."

Update:
I'm seeing the public version available elsewhere on line as well absorbantprinting.com
barackswatch.com was also picked up on Crunch Gear

Update via Bruce the comments: "You can find a Commemorative Edition of this watch, the same make and model as President Obama's at www.JorgGray.com"

Update: image of my watch below. You can see how the seal is different.
